IIT Madras Develops India's First Indigenous Motorized Wheelchair Vehicle

CHENNAI: Indian Institute of Technology Madras has developed India's first indigenous motorized wheelchair vehicle that can be used not only on roads but even on uneven terrains. Called 'NeoBolt', it has a maximum speed of 25 kmph and travels up to 25 km per charge. It empowers wheelchair users with a convenient, safe and low-cost mode of outdoor mobility when compared to cars, auto rickshaws or modified scooters. NeoBolt is powered by a Lithium-Ion Battery that will give 25 Kms for every charge. Throughout the development process, the IIT-M Researchers collaborated extensively with organizations and hospitals working among people with locomotor disability and built the products factoring in their experiences and making constant design adjustments. University of Technology Signs MoU with The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)

New Delhi, :   University of Technology has signed a memorandum of understanding with The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) set up by an Act of Parliament for leveraging each other's expertise and domain knowledge in launching several programmes and initiatives on financial markets. The MoU was signed by CA Nihar N Jambusaria, President, ICAI and Dr. Anshu Surana, President, University of Technology. The agreement was signed off by both partners on 20th August 2021 in the presence of senior representatives, including Mr. Chandrakant Dugar, Advisor, University of Technology, Mr. Kamal Kishor Jangid, Mr. Bijoy Prasad, Senior Academician. Under this MoU, University of Technology will accord its necessary recognition to Chartered Accountants Qualification as equivalent to  Post Graduate Degree  for the purpose of admission to  Ph.D. in Management/ Commerce and allied Programs  at University of Technology subject to their equivalency by Association of Indian Universitie

IIT Madras helps TN Potters meet modern demands such as Microwaveable Cooking Utensils

CHENNAI, : Indian Institute of Technology Madras Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG) has helped establish a Common Facility Centre to help potters in a Tamil Nadu village meet modern consumer demands such as Microwaveable Cooking Utensils. These products have higher market value and will help sustain the traditional potters. Many traditional potters' families are economically poor and living Below Poverty Line. To increase the earning of the artisans, modern machinery is introduced alongside additional skill and product training to improve not only the productivity but also the wages of the artisans. Chennai metro train operations extended till 11:00 pm from Monday with several safety measures

Chennai :To cater to the increased demand by passengers for extending of Metro Train Services during night hours, CMRL has decided to extend its Metro Train services from 05:30 am to 11:00 pm from tomorrow (23-08-2021), Monday for weekdays (Monday to Saturday). The peak hour services will be from 08:00 am to 11:00 am in the morning and from 05:00 pm to 08:00 pm in the evening with existing 5-minute headway during Peak hours and 10-minute headway during Non-peak hours. Metro Train services will be on Sundays and Government Public Holidays from 07:00 am to 10:00 pm with 10 minutes headway throughout the day. In addition, a penalty of Rs.200/-is being imposed for not properly wearing Face Masks in Metro Trains and Metro Stations. So far a total of 176 passengers have been levied penalty from 21-06-2021 till 21-08-2021 for non-adherence and a sum of Rs. 35,200/- has been collected as penalty.
